From the flatlands to the mountains, from the office desk in the Alpine Museum in Bern, three weeks to the studio in Versam. Time to think about the (non)sense of my artistic work. In the first week here I dedicated myself to drawing, collage and ink painting. The play with text and images was central. My cosmos: I process, experiment and search by drawing. Textiles and sewing are my passion, so in the second and third weeks I sat down at the sewing machine and developed two objects to touch. A “tension robe” and a “relaxation blanket” are created in the process. The objects refer to blankets, which are used to reduce stress: weight or pressure has been proven to have a positive effect on the body and mind. The two objects differ in the way they exert pressure. The person wearing the “tension robe” decides how much pressure is generated by the clamping set and to what extent your freedom in movement is restricted as a result. With the “relaxation blanket”, a wool blanket with larger and smaller stones from the Safien valley are sewn-in, different weight levels can be experienced sensually.
Be grounded. A heavy blanket covering the entire body.
Woven from wool of thoughts from melancholy sheep.
Vernissage: Saturday, September 30th, 5 p.m.
